A Frog House seeks a sociable, responsible frog enthusiast to assist as a docent at A Frog House, on the banks of the beautiful Erie Canal. You will meet and greet visitors and introduce them to the wonderful world of frogs and the efforts of A Frog House. In doing this, you will be helping us to be open more days of the week, and educating more of our local citizens about the importance of our natural world.

Duties include opening and closing the house, putting out our signs, greeting visitors, explaining our mission and vision, showing items for sale, including A Froggy Family’s First Frolic, and SAVE THE FROGS! and other free educational materials, as well as getting passerby’s involved in our activities.

Must be 18 or over, with a high school degree. You must have consistent day of the week with a four hour opening at which you could volunteer with regularity. A Frog House team will provide full training.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Greeting passersby and sharing the mission of A Frog House.
  • Take visitors through the frog house, explaining current projects and answering questions.
  • Encourages visitors to make donations to A Frog house, and is knowledgeable of the prizes awarded for donation levels.

Qualifications

  • 18 years old or over, with a high school degree or GED equivalent.
  • Is available to volunteer at least two Sundays a month.
  • Can arrange transportation for themselves to and from A Frog House.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this position is friendly and knowledgeable of the mission and ongoing projects at a Frog House. This person is comfortable taking groups and individuals on a tour of the house, as well as handling donations and giving out appropriate prizes.
