Join Tom Biebighauer, wetland expert and contractor, on September 24 at 7 pm on zoom. Tom will share a presentation of images of some possible pond designs and plants he thinks might best fit in the areas identified in his proposal for the Robert C. Corby Arboretum and Wildlife Sanctuary, as well as a description of the work day and the talents and skills he knows will be needed
You are a stakeholder, and we need and want your input. In a round table discussion, you will have the opportunity to introduce yourself, ask questions, name your interests, pick the designs and plants you most want, and identify just how you want to be included.
If you love nature and are concerned about the environment, you already know that vernal ponds have many benefits, including safe breeding for amphibians and invertebrates (both of which will consume the mosquitos!), maintaining biodiversity for plants and animals, climate change resilience with a cooling affect, supporting ecosystem health with nutrient cycling, water filtration and flood control, and providing educational and research opportunities.
From this perspective, everyone is a stakeholder. Thanks to Tom’s excellent plan, we have clear project goals and objectives, comprehensive planning, and risk management assessment and mitigation.

- at least 10 sturdy and strong souls to hand rake, shovel, lift and pull the liner and geo-textile pads. Tom writes: “The importance of organizing a large enough crew to help cannot be overemphasized.”
