Save the Frogs Day at A Frog House
May 1, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Come on an informative hike with Dave Will, Naturalist at our local Seneca Park Zoo for our annual Save The Frogs Day event! Mr. Will, in charge of training for Frog Watch USA Rochester, teaches a standardized protocol to monitor wetland sites throughout the breeding season (February – August). Also an expert on invasive species, he will help attendees download useful apps and use them on our hike from A Frog House to and within the Erie Canal Nature Preserve. He will instruct us with extra frog and toad “biofacts” from the zoo collection, including skeletons and other educational materials. His focus will be on the difficulties frogs and toads have, and how they interact with invasive species.
Use this information in your own public and private locales, for the sake of attracting our favorite bioindicator and keystone frogs as well as related prey and predators. You may be inspired to advocate for wetland restoration, join Frog Watch USA (the zoo has a training in mid-May), or even go on a trip to Costa Rica with SAVE THE FROGS!
Start at A Frog House at 1 pm, for browsing, garden talk and hanging out.. Be there at 2 to join Mr. Will on his two hour hike. Come back for refreshments.
Registration is required. The suggested donation is $1 – $50. Pay what you can. Nobody turned away for lack of funds.
